"My objective in compiling this book was to establish a consistent format of existing genealogy sources and, more importantly, find a connection for my maternal and paternal Nierman/ns. I was convinced that there was one for a number of reasons: 1) the families immigrated to the U.S. within 2 years of each other, from villages within 10 miles of each other, in Westphalia, Prussia, both departing from Bremerhaven and arriving in New Orleans, via sailing ships; 2) both traveled up the Mississippi River, with one settling in Illinois and the other in Indiana; 3) sons of both would make homes in Nebraska about the same time, and eventually settle in Colorado. With my research concluding, this will be the last publication.
